Popular with the locals and a definite tourist attraction, doing a spot of Shopping On Beijing Street In Guangzhou China is a must! You will also find an historic fountain, guarded glass-encased underground tombs, lovely old trees and a 1000 year old Buddhist temple!
The shops here are mostly high-end and pretty shiny, but you might be lucky and find some great sales! We did…
I have been to China twice now, Mike has been several times, and every visit begs for a little Shopping On Beijing Street! It’s great during the day, but it’s really stunning at night if the weather is good.
There are plenty of restaurants, so you can make a real outing of it.

Here’s what you can expect while Shopping On Beijing Street In Guangzhou China:
During Chinese New Year, which falls on different days each year, there will be lanterns hung on trees in the streets, office buildings, and doors of houses. Hanging a red lantern in front of the door is believed to drive off bad luck.
The year 2020 will be the year of the rat. And I happen to be a rat in Chinese zodiac signs! Check out the post below to find out what Chinese zodiac sign you are:

You will also notice “Couplets” pasted on either side of doors – these are brush works of Chinese calligraphy, in black ink on red paper.
Many are poems about the arrival of spring. Some are statements about what the residents want or believe in, such as harmony or prosperity. These might remain up until renewed at the next Chinese New Year.
One of our favourite things to do while we wander this long street of designer shops is to stop off at Itgo Ice Cream Shop!!
Their ice cream is absolutely delicious, and on a warm, balmy evening, it’s just the ticket. Actually, even when it was chilly we still had ice cream, and loved it.
My favourite flavour by far is their tiramisu ice cream…it’s SOOO smooth and creamy and tasty and just YUM.
Guarded glass-encased underground tombs take up the middle of the road towards the end of Beijing Street, and if you ask nicely, the guards don’t seem to mind posing for a pic – with or without you in it.
There is a very large, regal building right at the very end of Beijing Street that is just stunning at night and makes walking right to the very end worth the effort.
And last but certainly not least, in fact perhaps the most authentic Chinese sight to behold is the Dafo Buddhist Temple, located just off Beijing Street, where you will find three of the largest statues of buddha in China, and two large restaurants. I have shared a full post on the temple and you should definitely check it out below:

Don’t be surprised if you are nudged by someone selling their wares in the street…These folks are common on Beijing Street, and they might be a little difficult to dissuade if you’re not interested in anything they’re selling, but we found it best to politely say no thank you and keep walking.
