The most satisfyingly delicious, thick and creamy smoothie full of healthy goodness – Cacao and Blueberries are a MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN! Making this Cacao Blueberry Dessert Smoothie simply heaven-sent…
Being people who are concerned with, and fascinated by our health and well-being, we try to eat as clean and healthy as possible when we’re at home, and especially from Monday to Friday.
We do, however, still feel the need for a delicious treat from time to time, usually in the evening, or for me occasionally, after a good workout…
And this is where the Cacao Blueberry Dessert Smoothie – Queen of all smoothies – comes in to save the day!!
And holy smokes does she ever!
Made with Cacao powder, blueberries, nut butter of your choice (we love peanut butter or almond butter the best), banana, protein powder (we use whey), mixed seeds (my mix is in the recipe notes!) and almond milk or any milk you choose.

The absolute and undeniable YUMMINESS of this thick and creamy Cacao Blueberry Dessert Smoothie hits the spot when you feel like something sweet, chocolatey, and a little nutty!
Not only is this smoothie just like pudding, but it also boasts a boat-load of health benefits:
- The Cacao Bean has over 300 identifiable compounds including vitamins, minerals, amino acids and phytonutrients. High in magnesium, zinc, iron, calcium, beta-carotene and omega 6 fatty acids. Cacao also contains anandamide, a natural euphoric compound which acts as a mood enhancer and, unlike traditional drugs, it has no side effects
- Blueberries contain a flavonoid called anthocyanin which gives blueberries many of their health benefits. In some studies they have been shown to protect against heart disease and cancer, maintain bone strength, mental health, and healthy blood pressure
- Protein Powder builds lean muscle and aids in weight loss (coupled with appropriate exercise)
- Peanut Butter is rich in protein and healthy, unsaturated fats which leave you feeling fuller for longer. Peanuts also contain magnesium, which fortifies your muscles and bones, as well as potassium, which has been found to lower blood pressure
I have been wanting to share this Cacao Blueberry Dessert Smoothie recipe with you guys for the longest time!
One thing or another has gotten in the way of me doing this post, but I finally got around to photographing the smoothie and writing the post today…and I’m so glad I did!
It really is an absolute favourite of ours, we have this smoothie at least twice a week, and are so in love with it…it’s SO DARN GOOD!
I can’t wait for you to try it!!
PLEASE let me know in the comments any tweaks that you make, how your smoothie turns out and what you think of it! So excited to hear from you…
