- Shredded purple cabbage
- Cranberries
- Walnuts
Here’s what you need to make the healthy dressing:
- Plain full cream yoghurt (or dairy-free alternative – see below)

If you’re dairy free or vegan you can make the dressing with coconut yoghurt or vegan mayo.
Simple ingredients and 15 minutes is all you need for this wonderfully DELICIOUS and utterly good for you Broccoli Apple Cranberry Detox Salad.
Why is this detox salad good for you?
- Broccoli is high in many nutrients, including fibre, vitamin C, vitamin K, iron, and potassium, as well as antioxidants and plant compounds.
- Apples are very rich in fibre, and fairly high in vitamin C and potassium.
- Purple Cabbage is very low in calories and rich in many nutrients and plant compounds. It is believed to lower inflammation and aid in stronger bones and a healthier heart.
- Cranberries contain high amounts of vitamin C, manganese, vitamin E, vitamin K and copper and are exceptionally rich in certain plant compounds.
- Walnuts are rich in omega-3 fats and contain higher amounts of antioxidants than most other foods. Eating walnuts may improve brain health and may help in preventing heart disease and cancer.

Not only is this salad great for Christmas time, or any festive gathering, but it’s the ideal mid-week throw-it-together-in-minutes side salad that will go with so many meals.
We love this healthy salad with simple baked chicken breasts, a hearty grilled steak, or baked fish.
I’ll have this salad for lunch with a rice cake topped with tuna and avo – such a YUMMY combo and SO nutritous!
You can change up the flavours by omitting the cranberries or swapping out the walnuts for almonds or cashews.
In summertime I love to add melon balls or sliced strawberries to our salads. There are so many variations to try out to keep this salad interesting without having to re-invent the wheel.
Getting back to Christmas day…That little dessert I’ve been tasked with, well, I’m going back and forth between making Lace Cookies Sandwiched with Chocolate Sauce OR a kind of Chocolate Mouse Gingerbread Trifle topped with Whipped Cream and Fresh Berries.
Which dessert would you choose?
I’ll be sharing the recipe on the blog, so let me know which one you would love more in the comments!
