20 Photos To Inspire You To Visit Sri Lanka
Posted on February 4 2019
Sri Lanka is a teardrop-shaped island off the coast of India, fondly referred to as “the pearl of the Indian Ocean” and known as one of the most beautiful and diverse countries in the world.
When you travel around Sri Lanka you realise the terrain is extremely diverse considering how small the island is.
From beautiful white-sand beaches with crystal clear turquoise water, full of gorgeous sea-turtles in Unawatuna to Kandy with its colonial buildings, large lake and mountain views to Ella right at the top of the misty mountains. There are many ancient temples and pagodas across the country, as well as wildlife safaris, rice paddies and glorious tea plantations.
Not to mention the amazing food that is served up from coast to coast!! Seriously, we love good food and we were very very happy 🙂 We had 4 solid weeks of 3 delicious meals every single day! And I’m thrilled to say that there are plenty of healthy options.
Sri Lanka is a beginners surf paradise! With surf schools around every bend along the coast, the waves are just right for those who are learning.
NB: Depending on the time of year, if you’re a more experienced surfer, you may be a little disappointed, so this is something to check before you go.
These photos feature Galle Fort, Unawatuna, Mirissa, Kandy, the Blue Train from Kandy to Ella, the mountainous town of Ella, Nine Arches Bridge and the famous Virgin White Tea Plantation – the only one of its kind in the world.
